(while watching College Gameday and anticipating the county volleyball tournament)
What’s in my crockpot and what’s in my cup
On this blustery Saturday morning?
No doubt, it is something to warm you right up,
Fill you up, dash the chill, make you cozy!
What’s in the yard, or the sky, light and pale,
As the cat and I look out the window?
She swishes and twitches her fluffy, black tail.
What she sees—I don’t know—it’s a mystery.
What’s in the oven and smelling so nice,
One cinnamon spiced and one chocolate?
There’s one for the morning and one for the night:
A sweet riddle—the answer’s a victory.
What’s to expect on this very fine day,
As I try to foresee what will happen?
The truth is that nobody knows, but we pray
Win or lose—celebrate!—all the rivalry.
What’s in the crockpot? Let’s drink from the cup, thanking God that we don’t know the ending,
For living’s the best, though we don’t know what’s next:
Keep a laugh and a smile and be merry.
