Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. Psalm 27:14
I’m in a robe in a doctor’s office, just waiting.
At first glance, the process appeared to be a quick one. No paperwork to complete, a five-minute wait in the appropriately named waiting room, just long enough to thumb through a magazine.
The nurse took my information, quickly typed some notes into the computer, and left me to wait on the doctor.
Wait, wait, wait.
I waited in line for the bathroom at the gas station, and that was after I had waited for a pump to open.
I waited in the checkout line in the grocery store.
I waited at the restaurant for the waitress to take my order.
Does “waitress” mean the mistress of the waiting, because if so then I’m your A-number-one girl.
The word usually means a woman who waits at tables, or if you’re a man, I suppose the proper term is “waiter.”
But it also means “one who abides in expectation of some event or time.”
We who are waiting should take heart in that definition. Something about it gives me hope.
At one time, not that long ago, I was a horrible waiter (forgive me, but in this sense, I am not serving hot coffee and slices of apple pie).
My patience was weak. I needed things to happen quickly. I struggled with the unknown. I wanted my answer not later, but now.
That’s a far cry from how the world works, and it’s taken me this long to even begin to understand it.
And I guess I’ll have to wait on how the rest of my life unfolds to see what I’ll learn next.
Prayer: Father, thank You for helping my patience to grow.

A well laid out thought, that I think everyone can relate to. Waiting develops patience, and patience builds us up, leading to stronger character and increased faith in God. Thank you, waiting to see your next post.
